What is the Political Courage Test?

Delaware State Legislative Election 2018 Political Courage Test

Pro-life a) Do you generally support pro-choice or pro-life legislation?
No b) Should abortion be legal when the pregnancy resulted from incest or rape?
No c) Do you support the prohibition of public funds for organizations that perform abortions?
I do not believe that abortion should be used as birth control. As far as incest and rape there are adoption services etc and the father should be prosecute completely

1) Budget Stabilization:Indicate which proposals you support (if any) for balancing Delaware's budget.

No a) Reducing state employee salaries AND/OR pensions?
No b) Instituting mandatory furloughs AND/OR layoffs for state employees?
No c) Reducing benefits for Medicaid recipients?
No d) An income tax increase on any tax bracket?
I believe that there are many ways that we can find money to balance the budget. By revamping the health care system and introducing a concierge type system such as Josh Umbehr system we would save millions in waste and have better health care, more options and cheaper costs to the individual. This is just one way to solve the balancing of the budget.
Yes a) Do you support any limits on campaign contributions to state candidates?
Yes b) Do you support the regulation of indirect campaign contributions from corporations and unions?
Yes c) Do you support the use of an independent AND/OR bipartisan commission for redistricting?
Yes d) Do you support requiring a government-issued photo identification in order to vote at the polls?
e) Other or expanded principles:
Yes a) Do you support capital punishment for certain crimes?
b) Do you support the legalization of marijuana for recreational purposes?
c) Should a minor accused of a violent crime be prosecuted as an adult?
Yes d) Do you support the enforcement of federal immigration laws by state and local police?
Marijuana - I believe that since it is illegal on the federal level that we need to work, state and federal, to find an agreed solution to this issue. I believe that minors, depending on the violent crime, should be prosecuted as adults. These crimes should be designated for this prosecution.
No a) Do you support state government spending as a means of promoting economic growth?
Yes b) Do you support lowering state taxes as a means of promoting economic growth?
Yes c) Do you support reducing state government regulations on the private sector?
No d) Do you support expanding access to unemployment benefits?
Yes e) Do you support requiring welfare applicants to pass a drug test in order to receive benefits?
f) Do you support an increase of the minimum wage of Delaware?
Increasing the minimum wage works for some but not for all. I would have to do more research to find out if it would benefit the majority
No a) Do you support adopting federal education standards in Delaware?
Yes b) Do you support state funding for charter schools?
No c) Should immigrants unlawfully present in the United States who graduate from Delaware high schools be eligible for in-state tuition at public universities?
Unlawful immigrants should be in the process of making themselves "legal" to have access to any of the public benefits. If they do not want to assimilate and become citizens then they should not have the benefits that we as citizens and other immigrants (who have followed the proper system) have available.
a) Do you support state funding for the development of renewable energy (e.g. solar, wind, thermal)?
b) Do you support state government regulations of greenhouse gas emissions?
c) Do you support increasing state funding for clean drinking water initiatives?
I believe that the companies developing and instituting these environmental and energy issues should be funding them
No a) Do you generally support gun-control legislation?
Yes b) Should background checks be required on gun sales between private citizens at gun shows?
c) Should teachers be allowed to bring guns into the classroom?
No d) Should a license be required for gun ownership?
The question of teachers and guns is a wide open question. If a teacher wanted to carry a gun (or already had a carry permit) they would have to undergo training for the safety, use and qualify in their shooting. Also they would have to have active shooter training. This would definitely be on a case by case situation and no teacher would be required to do this. There are many other ways to make our schools safer also.
Yes a) Should the state government increase funding for treatment facilities to combat opioid abuse?
b) Do you support Medicaid expansion through Delaware's health care programs?
No c) Do you support requiring individuals to purchase health care insurance?
d) Do you support legislation that grants citizens the right to choose to die through euthanasia?
No e) Do you support eliminating religious exemptions for vaccinations?
By revamping the health care system and introducing a concierge type system such as Josh Umbehr system we would save millions in waste and have better health care, more options and cheaper costs to the individual. By doing this we would have more money to deal with and fund the opioid abuse problem. This is a huge issue and we need to support or police, prisons and rehabilitation efforts. I would need more information on the euthanasia issue. There are many variables that I am not aware of.
a) Do you support the inclusion of sexual orientation in Delaware's anti-discrimination laws?
b) Do you support the inclusion of gender identity in Delaware's anti-discrimination laws?
Yes c) Do you support greater efforts by Delaware state government in closing the pay gap between men and women?
I would need more information on the sexual orientation and gender identity issues. The questions are way to broad for me to make a blanket decision or comment
